Job Description

Required Skills & Expertise

  • Industry Experience: 10+ years of technical leadership in polyester films and specialty coatings; experience in architectural, solar-control, decorative films, PPF, optical/anti-fouling coatings, or specialty performance films (anti-fog, anti-static, scratch-resistant, antimicrobial).

  • Technical Knowledge:

    • Polyester polymer chemistry, PET resin science

    • Film extrusion (biaxially oriented, multilayer co-extrusion)

    • Coating, lamination, adhesive chemistry

    • Hard-coat, soft-coat, anti-fog, anti-static coatings

    • Corona/plasma treatment, silicone-based release liners

    • Surface hardening and micro-structure embossing for prismatic films

  • Product Knowledge (Preferred): Digital/UV/latex print films, PDLC smart films, retro-reflective prismatic films, soft-touch films, label-stock films, automotive interior films, surface protection films for electronics.

  • R&D & Commercial Execution: Pilot trials, scaling formulations, validations, certifications, and regulatory approvals.

  • Innovation & Market Mindset: Market-driven product innovation, pricing understanding, and commercialization focus.


     

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead R&D for specialty polyester films and advanced coatings, converting market needs into commercially viable formulations and product specifications.

  • Reverse-engineer competitive products, develop new lines with technology partners, and implement backward integration for advanced films (PDLC smart, prismatic retro-reflective, anti-fingerprint, soft-touch, anti-fog, label-stock, flexible electronics).

  • Develop and customize polyester base films and coatings, finalize product recipes aligned with plant capabilities, and scale pilot trials to commercial production.

  • Collaborate with marketing, process, and customer technical teams to ensure market fit, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Lead technology transfer, partner with licensors, and integrate external know-how into Garware’s production environment.

  • Ensure IP creation: filing patents, protecting formulations, and building differentiation against competitors.
