Job Description

We are seeking to recruit a Laboratory Manager to lead our Admixture Production & Development Unit, oversee our Ready-Mix Concrete Laboratory, and support the setup of our upcoming Dry Mortar Production Facility. The role requires strong technical expertise across admixtures, concrete technology, and mortar formulation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Formulation and optimisation of chemical admixtures (PCE, SNF, accelerators, retarders)
• Management of ready-mix concrete laboratory operations and testing
• Oversight of quality assurance systems across admixture and concrete divisions
• Technical planning and development of dry-mix mortar products
• Ensuring compliance with Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) requirements
• Coordination with suppliers and equipment vendors
• Training and supervision of laboratory and technical teams
• Maintaining reports, testing documentation, and management updates

Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in admixture formulation, concrete technology, or dry-mix mortar production
• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Materials Science
• Strong knowledge of cement chemistry and admixture systems
• Experience in dry mortar or tile adhesive production preferred
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple technical functions
