1- Procurement Category Lead — Engg & Mechanical  Items

Category-specific requirements: • 4–7 years in industrial procurement — engineering goods, mechanical components, or marine spares — for a trading house, distributor, ship chandler, or EPC/manufacturing company • Must have physically visited industrial markets, verified product specifications on-ground, and negotiated with distributor sales teams in person • Existing vendor connects in Mumbai's industrial distribution network — people who will give you trade pricing because they know you • Ability to read technical specifications for engineering items: pipe schedules, bearing designations, valve pressure ratings, welding electrode grades.

• Prior experience in ship chandling, maritime supply, or offshore industrial supply • Knowledge of IMPA coding and maritime engineering store categories • Familiarity with marine-grade specifications (stainless steel grades, hose pressure ratings, marine valve standards)

• Between 25 and 32 years of age — we are building a young, high-energy team • Able and willing to physically go to the market, visit vendors, inspect goods, and be present at the ground level — this is not a desk job or a phone-based sourcing role • Existing vendor connects in your category — you should be able to pick up the phone and get a competitive rate from suppliers within your first week • Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-changing priorities — startup pace, not corporate cycle • Strong negotiation instinct — you think in terms of landed cost, not just quoted price • Willing to travel to port cities when required — the product gets delivered to vessels at port • Experience working in a procure-against-order (PAO) or JIT business model is a strong advantage — you understand what it means to source against a confirmed order under time pressure, with no buffer stock to fall back on

• Own procurement of the full engineering and mechanical category for PortiQ's chandler customers: cutting tools, hand tools, hose and couplings, bearings, general machinery items, metal sheet and plates, pipes and tube fittings, pneumatics, valves, and welding equipment • Build a supplier network of industrial distributors, authorised dealer networks, and direct manufacturer contacts in Mumbai and JNPT corridor • Negotiate trade pricing for both branded items (Bosch, Stanley, SKF bearings, Audco valves, Esab welding, etc.) and non-branded equivalents where accepted • Physically visit distributor warehouses and trading hubs (Kurla, Dharavi, Masjid Bunder, Grant Road industrial belt) to assess stock, inspect product quality, and validate specifications • Source IMPA-coded items from the correct specification — no substitutions without explicit chandler/vessel approval • Maintain a competitive rate card across all sub-categories, updated weekly • Assess and onboard new suppliers: visit facilities, verify product authenticity, negotiate credit terms • Arrange and compile all relevant certification documents alongside physical supply — mill test certificates, material certificates, pressure test reports, manufacturer declarations of conformity, and third-party inspection reports; no engineering or mechanical item ships without the corresponding documentation package • Coordinate with the Ludhiana executive for north India industrial sourcing where applicable • Own category P&L: track purchase cost vs quoted rate vs delivery cost; identify high-margin SKUs and protect them.

2- Procurement Category Lead — Electrical Items

• Own procurement across the full electrical and electronics category for PortiQ's chandler supply: electrical items and tools (lamps, fuses, MCBs, cables, batteries, switchgear, insulated hand tools),electrical machinery (motors, generators, pumps, transformers), measuring and test equipment (multimeters, clamp meters, oscilloscopes, calibration instruments), computer hardware (laptops, monitors, peripherals, networking hardware), lighting equipment (LED fittings, fluorescent fixtures, emergency lighting, marine-grade luminaires), electronic consumer durables (TVs, DVD players, music systems, kitchen appliances for crew accommodation) and related spares • Build and manage a supplier network of electrical distributors, authorised dealer networks, and specialist marine electrical suppliers in Mumbai • Negotiate trade pricing for branded electrical items (Philips lamps, Duracell batteries, Schneider switchgear, Fluke instruments, etc.) and approved equivalents • Physically visit electrical wholesale markets (Mumbai's Bhuleshwar, Null Bazaar electrical belt) to assess availability, verify product authenticity, and compare pricing • Source IMPA-coded electrical items to the exact specification — voltage rating, base type, wattage — no substitutions without approval • Maintain a live catalogue and rate card for electrical SKUs, updated weekly • Identify and onboard specialist marine electrical suppliers who stock items specific to vessel electrical systems (24V lamps, ATEX-rated equipment, marine-grade fuses) • Arrange and compile all relevant certification documents alongside physical supply — type approval certificates, CE declarations, test certificates, calibration records, and brand warranty documents; no electrical or machinery item ships without the corresponding paperwork • Coordinate with the Bengaluru executive for electrical items available through Karnataka-based distributors.

3–6 years in electrical goods procurement or wholesale electrical distribution — for a trading house, EPC contractor, or ship chandler • Must have physically visited electrical wholesale markets and sourced from multiple distributors simultaneously — not a desk job • Existing distributor connects in Mumbai's electrical wholesale network • Ability to read and verify electrical specifications: lamp base types, voltage ratings, IP ratings, cable sizes, fuse amperage, • Experience sourcing branded electrical items through authorised channels with genuine product assurance.

Prior experience in marine or offshore electrical supply • Knowledge of ATEX / explosion-proof electrical equipment used in engine rooms and hazardous zones • Familiarity with 24V DC marine electrical systems vs 220V AC shore-based systems.
