MEP International Procurement Manager for Delhi

Key Responsibilities

 

1. MEP Technical Coordination

* Review MEP drawings, specifications, BOQs and technical requirements.

* Coordinate requirements for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting, ELV, BMS and other building services.

* Evaluate proposed products and systems from a technical and performance perspective.

* Review consultant and contractor recommendations and identify technically suitable alternatives.

* Ensure products meet project specifications, applicable standards and Bahrain/GCC requirements.

* Identify opportunities for value engineering without compromising quality, performance or durability.

 

2. International Procurement & Sourcing

* Source products and equipment from reputed manufacturers in India, China and other international markets.

* Identify and develop a strong database of manufacturers, OEMs, distributors and specialist suppliers.

* Obtain multiple quotations for major procurement packages.

* Establish long-term relationships with reliable manufacturers and suppliers.

* Coordinate directly with factories for technical specifications, pricing, production and delivery.

* Conduct or coordinate factory visits and inspections wherever required.

 

3. Technical & Commercial Comparisons

* Prepare detailed technical-commercial comparison statements for management approval.

* Compare products on more than just price, including:

    * Technical specifications

    * Quality

    * Certifications

    * Warranty

    * Product life

    * Energy efficiency

    * Lead time

    * After-sales support

    * Spare parts availability

    * Freight and logistics

    * Duties/taxes

    * Installation requirements

    * Overall landed cost in Bahrain

* Recommend the most commercially and technically suitable option.

 

4. Cost Optimization & Value Engineering

* Continuously identify cost-saving opportunities across the project.

* Evaluate alternative brands, manufacturers and technical solutions.

* Challenge specifications where appropriate and identify equivalent or superior alternatives.

* Negotiate pricing, payment terms, warranties, delivery schedules and other commercial terms.

* Maintain a strong focus on quality-to-cost ratio rather than simply selecting the lowest-priced supplier.

 

5. Order & Vendor Management

 

* Coordinate the complete procurement cycle from enquiry to delivery.

* Assist in finalising purchase orders and commercial terms.

* Monitor production schedules and delivery commitments.

* Coordinate inspections, testing, packing, documentation and dispatch.

* Track shipments and ensure timely delivery to Bahrain.

* Monitor supplier performance and resolve technical or commercial issues.

* Maintain records of warranties, manuals, certifications and spare requirements.

 

6. Project Procurement Planning

Since the project will be developed in phases over 3–4 years, the candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a long-term procurement strategy.

 

This will include:

 

* Identifying items that need early procurement due to long lead times.

* Identifying items that should be purchased closer to installation.

* Avoiding unnecessary early purchases and inventory holding.

* Planning procurement according to construction and operational phases.

* Maintaining a master procurement tracker for the entire project.

* Coordinating procurement schedules with project construction timelines.

Candidate Profile

 

The ideal candidate should have:

                                                                                                                                    

* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

* 10–15+ years of relevant experience in MEP, construction procurement, project procurement or technical sourcing.

* Strong understanding of building MEP systems.

* Experience handling large commercial/institutional projects.

* Strong exposure to procurement from India and preferably China.

* Experience dealing directly with manufacturers and OEMs.

* Strong technical evaluation and analytical skills.

* Excellent negotiation and commercial understanding.

* Ability to read and understand drawings, BOQs, specifications and technical datasheets.

* Strong Excel/reporting and documentation skills.

* Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

* Willingness to travel internationally when required.

 

Preferred Experience

 

Preference will be given to candidates who have worked on:

 

* Schools / universities / institutional campuses

* Hospitals

* Hotels

* Large commercial buildings

* High-rise or mixed-use developments

* Large infrastructure projects

* GCC/Bahrain/UAE/Saudi projects

 

Experience with China sourcing, factory audits, international logistics and GCC standards will be an added advantage.
